OM Gold & Diamonds – Jewellery Repair Terms & Conditions

At OM Gold & Diamonds, we take the utmost care in handling your precious jewellery. By proceeding with any repair, alteration, or restoration service, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

1. General Repair Acknowledgement

All repair work is carried out with the highest level of craftsmanship. However, due to the nature
of pre-owned jewellery, clients understand that:
Jewellery may have pre-existing wear, structural weaknesses, or hidden damage
The repair process may place stress on fragile areas
We are not liable for issues arising from pre-existing conditions

2. Join Marks & Soldering

Certain repairs (including chain repairs, resizing, or structural fixes) require soldering.
Visible join marks may remain after repair
While we aim to minimise visibility, a seamless finish cannot be guaranteed
Colour variation may occur, especially in 22K gold jewellery

3. Weight Discrepancies

During the repair process:
A minor weight difference may occur due to:
Removal of damaged sections
Filing, polishing, or cleaning
This is considered normal and acceptable within industry standards
Weight adjustments are not compensated unless agreed prior

4. Ring Sizing (Including Purchased Pieces)

For resizing services:
Slight variations in thickness, shape, or finish may occur
A tolerance of ±0.25 to 0.5 size is considered acceptable
For rings purchased from OM Gold & Diamonds:
Complimentary resizing (if applicable) follows the same tolerance standards. With sizing up or
down up to 3 sizes.
Certain designs (e.g. patterned bands, stone-set rings) may have limitations on resizing

5. Rhodium Plating

Rhodium plating is a surface treatment applied to white gold jewellery.
Rhodium plating is temporary and will naturally wear over time
Longevity depends on:
Skin chemistry
Frequency of wear
Exposure to chemicals (perfume, cleaning agents, etc.)
Re-plating will be required periodically and is not covered under warranty

6. Stone & Setting Risk

During repairs:
Stones (especially older, included, or fragile stones) may:
Loosen, crack, or become damaged
We take every precaution, however:
We are not responsible for stone damage or loss unless caused by proven negligence
Clients are encouraged to request stone tightening or inspection where necessary

7. Colour & Finish Variations

Post-repair finishing may result in:
Slight differences in colour tone or polish
Especially noticeable in:
Two-tone jewellery
Antique or handmade pieces

8. Structural Integrity Disclaimer

Jewellery that is heavily worn, hollow, or previously repaired may not restore to original strength.
Repairs improve wearability but do not guarantee long-term durability
We may decline certain repairs if risk is deemed too high

9. Timeframes & Delays

Estimated completion times are provided as a guide only.
Delays may occur due to:
Complexity of work
Parts/material sourcing
Jeweller workload
Clients will be updated where delays arise

10. Collection Policy

Clients will be notified once the item is ready for collection
Repairs must be collected within 14 days of notification
Uncollected items may be subject to:
Storage fees
Price adjustments (if additional work or holding costs apply)

11. Abandoned Goods

Items not collected within a reasonable period may be treated in accordance with WA
abandoned goods regulations, and may be sold to recover costs after due notice.

12. Cleaning & Polishing

All repaired items may undergo cleaning and polishing.
This may result in:
Slight reduction in weight
Softening of sharp edges or engravings over time

13. Liability Limitation

To the extent permitted by law:
Our liability is limited to the cost of the repair service only
We do not accept liability for:
Sentimental value
Indirect or consequential loss

14. Agreement

Once you have reviewed these Terms & Conditions, should you have any questions or concerns, we kindly ask that you notify us prior to the repair being allocated to a jeweller.

If we do not receive any communication, we will proceed on the understanding that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions, and authorise OM Gold & Diamonds to carry out the required work.
